Understand where your Board of Education candidates stand on these issues in the 2008 elections – don’t blindly follow the apple ballot recommendation! Several of the Montgomery County Board of Education (BOE) candidates, who |
| |
passed this curriculum, are up for re-election in 2008. Make sure to check our website before the primaries. Vote in the primaries! Make sure that the only BOE candidates to make it to the general election are the conservative ones! |

OPT-OUT. If you have a child in the public schools, and let them participate in this curriculum, you are giving your tacit approval of this curriculum. Schools districts across the nation may copy this curriculum. Do not foolishly think that “I will let them take the lessons and then tell them what I believe at home.” The surest way to stop this curriculum is for parents to talk with their feet and opt-out in record numbers. |
| 6. |
Help us spread the word! Many parents are not aware of this new curriculum. Hit your email list, handout flyers in your local community, ask your church leadership what they are doing to inform their congregation, tell the soccer/basketball/football parents. Pull out your directory and start calling the 8th and 10th grade parents in your school. The highest opt-out rate during the pilots was at a school where a parent took it upon herself to inform the entire grade. Don’t be shy! Drop us a note, staff@mcpscurriculum.com, and let us know which school/church you are in. We can point you at like minded parents as your school. If you have a child in ANY Montgomery County public school, we would encourage you to email your local school yahoo! News group subscription list and advise parents to review the curriculum on our website before allowing their children to participate. NOTE THE COUNTY AS OF OCTOBER 5TH DOES NOT HAVE THE CURRICULUM POSTED ON ITS WEBSITE. If you are opting out, let us know, the press typically wants to interview parents who are opposed to the curriculum. |
